... Is the Word

Thanks to an excellent question from Kali, given here are some links to lists of 50's words and phrases. There's some really fun stuff, and it's surprising how many we still use today! (Yes. I'm nerdy. Shut up.)

This link is an alphabetical, printable list that covers pretty much everything. Phrases for all occasions!

Here you'll see how to add -ville to just about anything, plus more vocab...

If your character is a little more hipster, check out this selection (or we can go find you the book)!

This set of 50's 'flashcards' makes me laugh, and I'm diggin' the actual quotes from Grease!

Here's another good alphabetical list - the page is a bit difficult to navigate, sorry, but there are some gems to pull out...

*
Have fun! Take a look, and start quoting the '50's now!

(And when you find a favorite word or phrase, post it in the comments!)

Here's a nice look for medium or longer hair:

This one's got some good principles that could be adapted for different hairstyles - the actual look would work well for older characters:

Check out the pin curls:

And Awaaaaay We Go...

Greasers. Actual style.

A modern interpretation of a greaser, as portrayed by Shia LaBeouf in
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
The look is good, but somebody should have told the kid that there's no crying in an Indiana Jones movie.

Johnny Bravo 4EVA

Still.
